Moving Forward
[Week III]

Pastor Clay NeSmith | Aug. 27, 2023

Notes

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Hebrews 10:23-25

People change, but God is constant. Situations change, but God is constant. God gave His Son so that we can know His love, put our faith in Him and receive forgiveness, then build our relationship with Him to make an extreme impact on the world. We want everyone to experience, express, and extend that same love God has shown us.

To be a Church that has extreme impact, we need to:

1) Trust God’s Promises

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Hebrews 10:23

If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

2 Timothy 2:13

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Colossians 3:1-2

Despite the way we may feel, God is always there. Keep your hope set in who He is and hang onto what He has promised.

2) Think of Ways to Motivate People to do Ministry

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

Hebrews 10:24

Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

Ephesians 4:12-13

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10

To do ministry means to administer God’s love to the world. We’re all called to ministry in some way. So find your place! Use your gifts to do outreach with the purpose of building others up.

3) Meet Together to Encourage Each Other

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Hebrews 10:25

Part of using your gift is bringing encouragement to other believers. We need each other, and seeing someone else’s faith in action helps our own faith flourish.

  • What are different ways we might all be ministry?
  • How does seeing someone’s faithfulness bring encouragement to others?
  • How can we have an extreme impact on our community?

Prayer

Thank you for never changing and for keeping your promises. When we are in times of transition or change, thank you for being constant.
