Movement

Notes

Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Galatians 5:25

God is a God of movement. Following His steps means growing in our wisdom and in our courage so we can do what He has set out for us to do. So how do we learn to keep in step with the Holy Spirit?

Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:6-9

1) Meditation

Wisdom comes from meditation. Meditate on who God is, what His Word says in context, and where He is taking you. This helps us to know Him better and understand what the Scriptures say.

2) Participation

Courage comes from participation. Start out with small steps so that you’re ready for the bigger steps. Faith is grown like a muscle; as we learn to trust God with our lives, we’ll have the courage to take bigger steps. This way, we can not only move ourselves forward, but we can also help others move forward.

Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

Galatians 5:26

God’s love disciplines and builds us up; it challenges us to grow and move forward. And we are to love how God loves us. The world will know God’s Church by the way we love each other. Take your gift and combine it with the gifts of others so that together, we can reflect God’s love to the world.
